- Our signature Plain sablé has remained a beloved long-seller since the company’s earliest days.By adding honey to the dough, we enhance the natural flavors of the carefully selected ingredients. Butter, one of the most essential elements of sablé, changes in condition from day to day, requiring delicate adjustments in the baking process. Its simplicity leaves no room for compromise, and this unwavering commitment to quality is what creates its exceptional taste.The moment you open the package; a sweet and buttery aroma gently fills the air. Enjoy the light, delicate texture and the comforting flavors of butter and honey.
- Azuki – A deep crimson color crafted with care
- Our Azuki sablé recreates the deep crimson hue associated with traditional Kamakura lacquerware (Kamakura-bori) and Kamakura Beniya’s brand color.While eggs are commonly used in sablé to enhance browning and texture, they would have prevented us from achieving the beautiful crimson color we were seeking. For this reason, we intentionally omitted eggs from the recipe.From carefully selecting ingredients, aging the dough and baking it with precision, every step is taken with great care. The result is a sablé with a distinctive color, the rich aroma of freshly cooked azuki beans, and an elegant sweetness.
- Matcha – Smooth harmony of premium matcha and condensed milk
- For our Matcha sablé, we aimed to create a mellow flavor that even those who are not fond of matcha’s natural bitterness can enjoy.By pairing carefully selected matcha with condensed milk, we achieve a smooth balance that softens the bitterness while preserving the tea’s character.Its gentle green color, reminiscent of fresh spring foliage, is created entirely from natural ingredients without the use of artificial coloring. Through subtle fine-tuning of the baking temperature, we have achieved a shade inspired by the tender young leaves of a newly sprouted ginkgo tree.
- The Charm of Kamakura Encapsulated in a Single Ginkgo Leaf
- The giant ginkgo tree long cherished as a symbol of Tsurugaoka Hachimangū Shrine inspired the shape of our sablé. In 1954, alongside the founding of Kamakura Beniya (then known as Beniya), the Ginkgo Sablé was born.In 2015, with the pursuit conveying the atmosphere and beauty of Kamakura more fully, we expanded beyond the original Plain flavor by introducing Azuki and Matcha. Together, these three varieties continue their journey under the name “Kamakura Dayori”, sharing the spirit and elegance of Kamakura with every bite.
